You may search the database for all 13 libraries and reading rooms in the Hiroshima City Library system, but books in the Tomohatogo Mobile Library system and books loaned community centers will not appear in the database.
A basic keyword search simply looks for a word in the catalogue. You can also limit a basic search using a title, an author's name, subject, series name, or magazine or journal title. An advanced search is also available, which lets you combine search terms and narrow your results by item type, location on the libraries, etc.
Note: you can use hiragana, katakana, kanji, alphabets and numbers.

Thousands of items— books, newspapers, magazines written in foreign language —can be checked out. We offer story times in multiple languages, at some of the city libraries. Young learners will enjoy a unique storytime with native speakers and learn a little about their culture.
The section for foreign language books is located on the 2nd floor of the Central Library where we stock materials written in foreign languages (English, Chinese, Korean, German, French and others). The Foreign Language section features useful pamphlets and printed fliers about daily life in Japan produced by Hiroshima municipal government.
As a central library for children, we collect and preserve materials written in foreign languages (English, Chinese, Korean, German, French and others). They are shelved in the foreign language's picture books section by language. Also, our library run a foreign language story hours with native speakers and learn a little about their culture. It's offered about 5 times a year.
In Aki Ward Library, we collect and check out books and picture books written in Spanish and Portuguese, as well as useful pamphlets and guide books about daily life in Japan. These materials can be checked out.
In Naka Ward Library, we collect books and picture books written in English. You can find many useful foreign country's guide books written in Japanese for understanding many cultures. Also, our library run a foreign language (most of the books are English) story hours.
The foreign language section on the 2nd floor of Manga Library has manga from Japan translated into various languages. You can read translated popular manga in Japan and manga from around the world such as American comics.
